we learnt how to take blood from the jugular vein for the first time today. tried it out on some sheep..and on hindsight, i feel really sorry for all the poking and prodding that those sheep endured from us noobs. we probably did a terrible job of locating the vein, excessively palpating the jugular groove (?) and having several attempts at trying to get the needle into the vein. But, you cant blame us for being bad at something which we were doing for the first time. perhaps they should teach us how to take blood from a less furry animal before moving on to the furry creatures. or perhaps we were taught this first so that we would have had some experience before trying it out on a dog, cos dogs probably will react more to needles than those sheep did.
