Keep Singapore out of broadband, warns Telstra

by Samantha Maiden 11/6/2007 The Australian "TELSTRA has warned John Howard not to "confiscate" the national broadband network proposal from mum-and-dad investors and hand it to Singapore, a country that executes its citizens. ... The Government will spend about $900million improving internet speeds in remote areas under the Broadband Connect program. Optus, which is owned by the Singapore-based Singtel, is expected to secure the lion's share of the funding. Cabinet has considered a plan to establish a panel of experts to examine options for a national broadband network, which could allow Optus to secure a slice of the action at the expense of Telstra. "We've been aggressive because there is a move under way to confiscate something that is owned by 1.6million mum-and-dad investors and give it to a Singapore company," Dr Burgess told The Australian. "We're talking about turning over Australia's only nationwide telecommunications network to a consortia run by the Singapore Government. That's a government that executes people, number one, and doesn't allow competition in its own country. It's unbelievable. ..." hmmm..right...

when you eat meat, did you just murder a cow/pig/chicken? technically no, cos murder refers to when a human is killed. haha but anyway..most days, i enjoy me beef and chicken and pork..and i dont even think about how it ended up on my plate. but, if you think about it, bad images of the slaughterhouse pops into mind. whether these animals had it good, or had it real bad, (some farms do have good practices and theres great welfare for the animals and all that and then there are farms which ARE evil) they all ended up in the slaughterhouse and no slaughterhouse is pretty. it sucks to be a farm animal. but, the last person on this planet to turn vego is me. so i'll just not think about the slaughterhouse for now, and go back to studying this subject called Animal Health, Management and Welfare and learn how to dehorn and castrate(cattle).

skywalker and the birdman have one thing in common. they both dont proof read their notes and produce typos very frequently. but there is a difference. skywalkers typos are really typos..and sometimes they are kinda funny.. things like 0.!% and Silostane instead of Trilostane. and he likes to use big words like efficacious and sequester and ubiquitous. i actually expanded my vocab while studying for biochem.hah. birdman, on the other hand, makes typos that arent amusing. he tends to leave out punctuation(you realise how important commas are) and that often leaves me confused as to what he's talking about! like "Plumage can vary body shape is consistent and mostly vegetarian diet with some species being pollen and nector feeders." for a moment there i was like plumage can vary body shape HUH???! and nector..right. and..he's used "to" instead of "too" twice. a tinge of suspicion that tells me that he's just got less than A+ grammar. hahaha. Thing of the day!!!~my bed.. i wana sleeeeppp..arrrrrhhhh

it is definitely near the end of the semester when all your highlighters and coloured pens are running out of ink. you know those zig double tipped markers, ive got a favourite colour. No.52. its a nice saffron orangy-yellowish kinda colour. i love it as a highlighter cos its not the ugly neon yellow that the normal highlighters are.. yes i discriminate against ugly neon highlighter colours. im the kind of girl who has to highlight all the things in my notes that are important, and that means that most of the time i end up highlighting more than 50% of my notes, cos you know everything in the notes is important cos if its not important it wont be there. right. so, ive used 2 of those markers this sem and thats how much highlighing ive done. actually i was quite shocked when i realised that the second one ran so fast..i havnt finished highlighting all my notes yet!! i only started using it maybe 3weeks ago?and the previous one lasted me all sememster until 3weeks ago! hmm..it either proves that i didnt do much studying at all for the past sem(until 3weeks ago) or i studied soooo much and highlighted soooo much that the marker ran out of ink within these 3 weeks..or there was less ink in the marker than normal/dried up cos i forgot to recap it sometimes(and i left it uncapped overnight once). i am inclined to believe that it is option 3. so, in conclusion, this semester ive used 2 No.52s, one pink, one blue and one purple highlighter (but to be fair the other 3 were already half used). my tiny pink g-tec is finally running out of ink, and i lost a purple g-tec(dammit i hate it when i lose stationary..actually, i hate it when i lose anything..and yet it happens much too frequently..which means im in a hateful mood alot..that cant be good..rrrrh)that leaves me with black, blue, and red for for the rest of the exam period. great. i know i know i can just go buy new ones right..but as a matter of fact, no i cant buy new ones here! aussies dont use anything less than 0.5! argh!! and 0.5 is already TOO thick!!!! someone needs to introduce aussies to 0.4/0.38 their life will never be the same again. thing of the day!!!~it cant be that physiology paper that i took today.. oh man oh man.. for the first time in uni history..all i want for an exam paper is a pass!!!!!never ever settled for less than a h2b. but now this time... arghhh please let me pass it please let me pass it..i promise i will study so hard for physiology next sem.. come on..its not like i didnt study..and i like (liked) physiology!! its bio in its purest form and ive always liked bio! so how can you do this to me now...! i cannot fail physiology! argh!

what's this? like HUH??! haha..i didnt get it.. but if u go to the website theyre advertising, it'll make sense. this ad is part of the melbourne model launch and from next year on, we're gonna focus on being a graduate uni..all the undergrad stuff is gonna be just a side thing.. hmm its quite a big thing here, and it does feel a bit strange that the whole uni system is changing while im in it, but actually im quite apathetic about the change itself..vet sci is remaning as an undergrad deg..so it really doesnt affect me much...but it will affect the people whose courses are getting canned cos of the new system..well not if they graduate according to plan, but if they needa retake some modules or stuff like that..hopefully the uni provides a good solution to those problems. other than that, i'd say.. yea good on melbourne uni if this move brings up its reputation and prestige and all that..it'll benefit me as well. haha.. thanks rachel for source hehheh thing of the day!!!~bumping into rachel outside the grattan st entrace of uni!! =D hehheh ohhh AND biao passed driving test!!!!! woohoo!!! now that is what i call good news =D hahahaha

this has literally how the past 8 days has been. wake up. sit at desk to study. eat/toilet various numbers of times. sleep. i normally sleep at about 2, wake up at 10(give take ah hour both ways)so assuming i sleep for about 8h a day(i must say it has been a very nice amt of hours to sleep, but very necessary)and do random stuff outside like cook/eat/toilet/bathe 2h. that means, ive been spending 14h a day sitting on my chair. the Thing of the day has got to be my chair.

Say something!
