christmas in malaysia and new year in shanghai.. thats the festive plan for this festive season. will be leaving for port dickson tomorrow morning and coming back home on 27/12.. then leaving for shanghai at 10am on the 28th and returning on 3 or 4th..i cant remember when =P soo..tt means tt i'll quite likely be back home sometime in the afternoon on 27th and will be free at night.. so people..if there's anything up..gimme a msg ok! =D haha... once again the yearly pilgrimage back to the motherland marks the significant end of yet another year. a short 6 point meme on what made the year 2005 for me. 2005 was the year that i... 1. left home to study abroad, alone by myself and gained total independence for about 4 months. 2. decided that i am a girl made for sunshine and hot wind and would very much prefer tropical weather to the miserable cold anyday. 3. had to work in a pantry (ie wash dirty dishes). it was an obligatory service that is required of a student body of which i was a part of. 4. was initiated into what is called balls/parties, wine/cocktails, and jerking/bopping around also called dancing, and found that the above can be considered one of my ideas of fun 5. regained confidence in myself with regards to my academic abilities. 6. discovered what it meant to truly miss someone. its been a good year for me, i hope it's been a good one for all u guys too! may '06 be good fun n games for us all! take care peeps..merry christmas n a very happy new year!!! Thing of the day!!!~Person: You. Just cos. =)

everyday i check my email and pray that i dont receive an email from the university authorities informing me that they made a mistake on my grades and i didnt get the whoop-ass fantastic results that i got!!! h1s for chemistry and biology of australian flora and fauna, h2a ancient rome and h2b for genetics & evolution. heh..fyi.. a h1 is the equivalent of a first class honour(80 & above) , h2a second upper (79-75), h2b second lower (74-70) and passing grades include third class honours (69-65), and pass (64-50). just a bit funny that i should score better for ancient rome..ancient history (spell- raw humanity through and through)none the less (which i have not had a hand at studying and writing since secondary 2) than for genetics & evo, (ie biology thats supposed to be my pet subject for the past 4years?) and also i think ive actually had more exposure to that subject if u compare the As syllabus with the VCEs (what the aussies take in yr12). its all relative cos everythings based on a bell curve but that doesnt really change anything does it. hmm really glad that i did well cos its going to be a great encouragement for me for the next sem.. all h1s are possible!!! hahaha.. good luck to everyone else getting their results soon!!!

In 1917 a baby is abandoned on the steps of the famous Raffles Hotel. A childless English couple finds the crying infant and sails away to England with the child in their arms. In 1937, 20 years later, the orphaned Emma West discovers a gold hairpin among her adoptive father’s estate. She uncovers a secret that leads her to Singapore and into a web of conspiracy, deceit and love that stretches back in time and across oceans. Meanwhile, in Singapore, the house of Lim Chin Boon is in turmoil; the dying Master Lim receives a letter from a young lady who could well be his long-lost granddaughter; or is she part of an elaborate plot to steal his wealth? In the tradition of Agatha Christie and the great “whodunits” of the 1930s, A Twist of Fate is a delicious comedy of twists and turns, false clues and dastardly deeds, set against the backdrop of a Peranakan family in Singapore. Dark and stormy nights, midnight rendezvous, an inconvenient murder or two, and memorable tunes make this an entertaining, suspense-filled evening at the theatre. Stars Laura Michelle Kelly (Mary Poppins – Laurence Olivier Award Best Actress 2005). Lyrics by Laurence Olivier Award winner Anthony Drewe and music by Dick Lee. Book by Tony Petito and Steven Dexter. Voted Best Musical of 1997 by The Straits Times, A Twist of Fate is back again by popular demand – bigger and better. a rather unfortunate state for local theatre benefited me and samantha when we went to watch this at the esplanade. our cat4 tickets were upgraded to relatively good cat2 stalls seats. circle levels 2,3 and 4 were completely empty cos everyone got upgraded and even so, the stalls still wernt completely filled. i'd say that this musical was really good! i loved the set. for the past few local acts ive seen, the set was always realllyyy minimalist, a few different sized boxes arranged strategically around the place.. i mean i know lah..creative improvision, but you cant deny the fact that an impressive set bumps up the value of the performance by a great deal. the set was a peranakan house that revolved..and more plus points for it being use creatively and effectively! the songs were delightful and pleasant..though at times, there might have been an overuse of the same tune for song/lyric variations. the singing was impressive enough though there is a noticable amount of room for improvement. the dancing was... bleahh.. no where near broadway standard..the dances were the cute kick left, kick right, a-go-go kind..and i felt that they could have been better off without dancing several times =P the plot was fun and realllly twisty when all was revealed..but that made it more fun still..!haha.. overall i think very worth my $45. =D Support Local Theatre!!! Sweeping all major theatre awards, including 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical as well as the Pulitzer Prize, RENT captures the heart and spirit of a generation. Inspired by Puccini's La Boheme, RENT is a joyous, breathtaking and often heartbreaking musical that celebrates a community of young artists as they struggle with the soaring hopes and tough realities of today's world. watched this about 2 weeks ago..was considered a present to me tho we went dutch..haha =P was really excited about it cos ive heard quite a lot of hype about it..unfortunately though..i was kinda disappointed. its not that i think its not good at all, i do think its good in certain aspects..really creative with respect to the types of songs delivered and overall i still think its nice.. but the show failed to hold my attention throughout the show and that i find is a major major disappointment. many songs were forgettable and even dry. its entertainment value wasn 10/10 or even 9/10 as most broadway musicals are..(most being judged from the 7 or 8 that ive seen..)i would have given it at most 6.5/10. a couple of songs were still good..seasons of love (of course), light my candle, and my favourite - La Vie Boheme! A big plus of the show was that it starred Karen Mok. i must say, i really did enjoy her performance. after watching the show and then listening to the soundtrack recorded by the original broadway cast, there is no doubt that karen mok's version of the songs are much nicer! i like her voice more than the original singer's. the movie version of the musical is going to be released sometime next year and im looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Movies generally tend to be more focused on the development of plot rather than vocal/artistic exhibition tt is given priority on stage sometimes and hence i believe the movie version will be much more succinct and certain details will be made more explicit(i hope). if such, i think it will be a fantastic movie.
